Gender, Families and Immigration in the Northwest

The Gender, Families, and Immigration in the Northwest (GFINW) Project will generate research and analysis about gender and family dynamics among changing immigrant communities in the Northwest and make that research accessible to and in conversation with policy makers, social service providers, and immigrant rights advocates.

"Cartas del Otro Lado"/ “Letters From the Other Side”

Este documental entremezcla historia personales de mujeres que quedaron en Mexico después de NAFTA con cartas que el director de la película lleva a través de la frontera entre México y los Estados Unidos.
This documentary interweaves video letters carried across the U.S.-Mexico border by the filmmaker and the personal stories of the women left behind in post-NAFTA Mexico.

Dr. Erlinda Gonzales-Berry, February 8, 2007, 4:00 p.m., Knight Library Browsing Room, University of Oregon. Gonzales-Berry's public lecture is titled One-and-a-half Generation Mexican Youth in Oregon: Pursuing the Mobility Dream. Dr. Gonzales-Berry is Professor of Chicana/o & Latina/o Studies and Chair of the Ethnic Studies at Oregon State University. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion. During winter and spring quarters GFINW will set up a local conference advisory board of faculty, grad students, and representatives from local community organizations to plan and structure our 2008 conference.
